Thank you for visiting the Child Support Portal and for reviewing our Privacy Policy. Our policy is clear:

We collect no information about you except information that we require to determine your eligibility to access the Portal, information automatically collected and stored as you browse the Portal, and information that you voluntarily choose to provide to us.

To register for access to the Portal, you must provide personal information to verify your authorization to access sensitive and personally identifiable information (PII). The Portal retains your information, which includes your name, Social Security number, date of birth, telephone number, email address, user ID, selected security questions and responses, your individual passwords for access, and the name, address and Federal Employer Identification Number of your employer (see System of Records Notice 90-80-038711 published in the Federal Register on January 24, 2022*). We will verify the information you supply for registration authorization against other federal records.

We appreciate that you may consider this information particularly sensitive, and you can rest assured that we will keep it in the strictest confidence and use it only for its intended purpose.

Information Automatically Collected and Stored

When you browse through the Portal, we automatically collect and store the following information about your visit to the Portal:

  • IP address of the device you use to access the Portal
  • Name of the domain you use to access the Internet
  • Date and time of your visit
  • Pages you visited
  • Links or buttons you click, such as the Download button
  • Device information, such as type of browser, operating system, device type (desktop, tablet, mobile, etc.), and brand and model of device used
  • Address of the website you last visited before you accessed the Portal

While most of this information is stored temporarily, we may use some of it for statistical purposes to help us make the Portal more useful. Unless specifically stated otherwise, we will collect no additional information about you.

The Office of Child Support Services (OCSS) will record your email address if you send us a message. We will store your email address temporarily and use it only for the purpose you provided it. OCSS will not add your email address to any mailing lists without your consent by way of a specific request in writing. Additionally, audit trails of all actions taken while registering or after you have accessed the Portal are recorded and kept for a maximum of seven years.

Providing Additional Information

You must provide us with the specific information described above to access the Portal. If you choose to provide additional information about yourself through an email message, form, survey, or other means, we will keep the information only to fulfill the intended purpose of the communication. Communications that are considered official correspondence are preserved, as required by law, for historical purposes. These communications are archived monthly but are also protected by the Privacy Act, which restricts our use of them yet permits certain disclosures.

Persistent Cookies

Consistent with the Department of Health and Human Services’ policy, we do not use “persistent” web cookies on OCSS websites or this Portal.

Disclosures

OCSS does not disclose, give, sell, or transfer any personal information provided by our registrants, unless required for law enforcement by statute. OCSS will maintain and use this information to verify your employment, identity, and your relationship to your tribe and/or employer.

Intrusion Detection

This site is maintained by the U.S. government. It is protected by various provisions of Title 18 of the United States Code. Violations of Title 18 are subject to criminal prosecution in federal court. For site security purposes and to ensure that this service remains available to all users, we employ software programs to monitor traffic to identify unauthorized attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause damage. In the event of authorized law enforcement investigations, and pursuant to any required legal process, information from these sources may be used to help identify an individual.
